The Great Hall on Karufr was filled to the brim. Bright torches cast a brilliant yellow-orange hue over the assembled Dark Jedi from above, illuminating the banners of each of the Clan’s past and present Houses. Behind the stage enlarged copies of the Consul’s personal warbanner hung, the red cloth contrasting with the dark stone walls. At the Consul’s invitation, every member of the Clan was present in the Great Hall; Journeymen towards the front, Equites in the middle and the few remaining Elders in the rear. The stage sat at the far end of the hall, empty.
Hushed murmurs and excited whispers filled the large space with a buzz tangible even to those not attuned to the force. A few of the Taldryan Security Service’s senior officers were present, seating in overhead balconies along with the few business people and persons that made the Clan’s activities possible. When the time came to begin, the torches dimmed, darkening the hall.
Two heavily armored Dark Jedi emerged from either side of the stage, their faces masked from view. They crossed each other and took up positions on opposing sides of the stage. Seconds later, the assembled Taldrya entered from both sides and took up standing positions towards the back. They were followed by the Aediles and then the Queastors of the Houses. Proconsul Andan Taldrya Marshall, war hero and a long-time leader of Taldryan, stepped out from the shadows and took up a position in the center of the stage.

“All, please rise.”

Every body in attendance stood to their feet. The hall was void of sound as the Taldryan Consul strode from stage left to the front center position. His natural stature, recently enhanced by his prosthetic, reverse articulated legs, was only increased by his position in front of everyone. Though not the most powerful force-user in the room his presence was felt far more heavily than that of any other individual in the room.

“Taldryan! I greet you warmly this day”
“Much has occurred in the past year. The succession of four Consuls, the loss of a Quaestor to combat, and the victory of the Brotherhood over not only the Yuuzhan Vong but also the Jedi Usurpers of Antei! Taldryan has seen victory not only against Jedi and the Vong, but also against the Pirates of Rybanloth and the forces of the Brotherhood itself. We have also seen our share of failure, but this serves only as a lesson from which we emerge stronger.”

The Taldryan Consul clutched his scepter in hand, illustrating his points with broad arm motions, “Unlike the lesser Clans of the Brotherhood who give out accolades and words of praise like the air they breathe, Taldryan holds itself to a higher standard. The awards you win are your duly deserved reward for hard work and perseverance. In addition to the Merit Awards and Sacrificial Awards leaders are authorized to give to praiseworthy individuals, this Clan has seen fit to further honor those truly laudable Dark Jedi with the following honors.”
The Proconsul stepped forward with a case made of highly polished wood and opened it for all to see its contents as the Consul continued, “Will the following Dark Jedi present themselves: Sharad Taldrya Hett and Shaz’air Rathden, come receive your Star of Achanis’; Lokasena Corvinus, come receive your Crescent of Ektrosis; finally, Andan Taldrya Marshall, please receive this Mark of Honor along with my great respect and thanks. “The following members have gone above the call of duty, and beyond any measure of expectation to further this clan. Starrett, Ektrosis’s recently departed Aedile, please present yourself to receive Mav’s Ttemperence. Awarded to a leader who knows their time has come, they willingly and dignifiedly leave office in a responsible manner for the greater good. Thank you for your work. Sharad Taldrya Hett! Present yourself to receive Duga’s Devotion! Awarded for supreme loyalty and work to Taldryan, for the good of ones self for the good of all, this Award goes to a member who has shown a consistent and determined loyalty not only to his Clan, but his House. Finally, Bubbles Taldrya… Present yourself to receive Jac’s Perseverence. This shield represents a steady persistence in bettering this clan in any way possible. It is awarded to you for mentoring and guiding generations of Dark Jedi down the path that leads to power. I owe my position today to your teachings.”

Thundering applause filled the Great Hall as the members accepted their awards and returned to their seats or positions, “On this day, November 5th, we remember Taldryan’s domination over the Clans of the Brotherhood in the Sixth Great Jedi War. Take this time to reflect on our legacy, our history.
Though Taldryan may not be the power house now that it once was, look forward to the day, soon, when we will sit atop the lesser Clans yet again. A time of war looms on the horizon. Will we meet it head on, or will we back down from this fight? Brothers and Sisters of Taldryan, I say we will fight. We will dominate.”
